Note: You are now downloading a Freeware version of FreeBSD for i386 ISO. You don’t have to pay in order to use or download FreeBSD for i386 ISO.

This is the ISO version of FreeBSD. FreeBSD offers advanced networking, performance, security and compatibility features today which are still missing in other operating systems, even some of the best commercial ones. The quality of FreeBSD combined with today’s low-cost, high-speed PC hardware makes FreeBSD a very economical alternative to commercial UNIX workstations. It is well-suited for a great number of both desktop and server applications. “Linux is for those who hate Microsoft, BSD is for those who love Unix” ;)

Fedora 9 Preview (torrent) LiveCD i686 (687 MB)
Fedora 9 Preview (torrent) LiveCD x86_64 (702 MB)
Fedora is the next generation Linux distribution from Red Hat.

Fedora is now available from Red Hat and at distinguished mirror sites near you, and is also available in the torrent.Fedora has expanded in this release to four binary ISO images and four source ISO images, and is available for both x86-64 and i386 and also PPC machines.

The Fedora Project is a Red-Hat-sponsored and community-supported open source project. It is also a proving ground for new technology that may eventually make its way into Red Hat products. It is not a supported product of Red Hat, Inc.

The goal of The Fedora Project is to work with the Linux community to build a complete, general purpose operating system exclusively from free software. Development will be done in a public forum. The project will produce time-based releases of Fedora Core about 2-3 times a year with a public release schedule.

The Red Hat engineering team will continue to participate in the building of Fedora Core and will invite and encourage more outside participation than was possible in Red Hat Linux.

By using this more open process, we hope to provide an operating system that uses free software development practices and is more appealing to the open source community.

What’s New in This Release:

· This is a Preview release, it is fairly close to what the final product
· will be like. This is the most critical release for the Fedora
· community to use and test and report bugs on. This is the last major
· public release before the final GOLD Fedora 9 release on May 13th

amn Small Linux is a business card size (50MB) bootable Live CD Linux distribution. Despite its minuscule size, Damn Small Linux strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop.

Having a working Linux desktop distro on a 50 mb bootable business card CD is just too cool not to do.

Damn Small Linux has a nearly complete desktop, including XMMS (MP3, and MPEG), FTP client, Dillo web browser, links web browser, FireFox, spreadsheet, Sylpheed email, spellcheck (US English), a word-processor (FLwriter), four editors (Beaver, nVi, Zile [emacs clone], and Nano [Pico clone]), graphics editing and viewing (Xpaint, and xzgv), Xpdf, emelFM (file manager), Naim (AIM, ICQ, IRC), VNCviwer, Rdesktop, SSH/SCP server and client, DHCP client, PPP, PPPoE (ADSL), a web server, calculator, generic and GhostScript printer support, NFS, Fluxbox window manager, games, system monitoring apps, a host of command line tools, USB support, and pcmcia support, some wireless support.

If you like DSL you can install it on your hard drive. Because all the applications are small and light it makes a very good choice for older hardware.

Originally DSL was based on model_k, which did an excellent distillation of Knoppix down to 33 megabytes. But more recent versions are a reduction from Knoppix proper.

As many know Knoppix is based on Debian which really made my task a lot easier, but the applications on the CD are not pure Debian. I am using a few apps that are not available via apt-get.

Kubuntu is an Ubuntu-derived distribution with the K Desktop Environment (KDE). The Kubuntu CDs are made up of Ubuntu’s base plus KDE. You can get exactly the same effect by installing Ubuntu and adding the KDE packages from the Ubuntu archives. Kubuntu is the result of several months effort to get KDE 3.4 into Ubuntu’s main repository and create the first major derived Ubuntu distribution. Kubuntu is not a fork of Ubuntu but an official project of it, sharing the same package archive and infrastructure. It is possible to convert an Ubuntu system to Kubuntu or vice versa.
